Art Jam: Ancient Raziel by shanarah Art Jam: Ancient Raziel by shanarah
Rendered this for the LoK Clan's Gene Swap Art Jam. I decided to use the Raziel morph for M4 that I'd just made to render Raziel as an Ancient, one of the few races Raziel has not yet been. Full size is 1920 x 1080 so it can be downloaded and used as desktop or PS3 wallpaper, but please do not redistribute.

Scene setup in DAZ Studio 3 Advanced. Rendered in LuxRender 0.8. Composited and post-worked in Photoshop Elements 8.0.

The lighting on this is incredible! Took me a moment to realise it was a rendered scene. I first clicked on it because it looked like cosplay XD

Really nice work!

Thanks for the compliment!  :D  I need to get back to working with LuxRender as the results are awesome, but I've been having trouble with it crashing lately, unfortunately.

Wow! Nicely done! At first glance I thought this was a really good cosplay - it's so photo realistic!

Thanks, DeeDee! Have you gotten a chance to play with LuxRender yet? I think there's a plugin out there for Poser too. The only things I think I prefer the 3Delight renderer for is bump and displacement, and to use LIE in DS. I'm sure I'll find bump settings I like for Lux eventually, but it might take a little more experimenting.

Experimented a few times a few months back with both Daz and Poser plugins, but got really slow, grainy results. Haven't really got time to fart around with it to get it working...

I hear ya. It does take a long time to lose the graininess, but the results are really nice if you have the time to do it (though yours always seem to turn out well either way). With all the stupid hours I've been working lately, I just let it go to town when I get my scene done and it's usually close to being finished when I get home. Indoor and dim lit scenes seem to take a lot more time though, and I haven't got one of those to turn out without any graininess yet. :\

Out of interest, how long did this one take? The only one I ever left running for any length of time ran for 21 hours, and was still horribly pixelated at 640 x 480 res. :S

Wow. I think I've run two for longer than 21 hours (maybe 2-3 days to be honest) to get them to an acceptable level, both were really dark though with most of the light coming from fire. This one I did have to do in two parts as it kept crashing Lux as a whole. The background ran for about 2.5 hours and came out completely clear, the foreground ran for about 15 hours, both rendered at 2880 x 1620 res. I did have to composite them so that took some additional time for postwork.

Looks like it just takes tons of patience then! Might give it another go now I've got my new setup. :)
